Jay-Z & Linkin Park Digipak Analysis

Digipak Lesson

A digipak is a CD which has a cardboard cover with artwork from the artist photoshoot/music video promotion.

The codes and conventions are that the artist would relate to the music video and their image from the style/make of the digipak. The track list on the back of the case, the record label, the barcode, the artists name and album title on the spine of the album, DVD logo for the music video.

A record label would release a digipak rather than a CD jewel case because it is cheaper to produce, it is good to use for promotional copies.

The consumer would prefer to that the album was a digipak because it is smaller and lighter than a CD jewel case and also that it would not break as easily.
